PILATES SCANDINAVIA is Sweden's first pure pilates studio. It was founded Body Control Studio by Annalena Bergström 1974, by the initiative of the Ballet Academy in Stockholm. One of the world's foremost Pilates instructors, the English man Alan Herdman, came to Sweden and trained Annalena who then ran the studio for 25 years. Pilates History Lillemor Lundberg, former assistant headmaster, contacted her and asked if she was interested in training in Pilates technique under the leadership of Alan Herdman, and then take over the studio when he went back to London. Annalena managed Ballet Academy Pilates studio less than 7 years and then moved to Kulturama where she ran their studio between 1982 and 1991. Meanwhile she also started her own studio with two naprapaths on Riddargatan. The studio at Ballet Academy continues to exist in a few years but then is closed down. 1991, she left Kulturama to open her own studio full time in Roslagsgatan, also in conjunction with naprapaths, three of them this time. Even Kulturamas studio closes after just one year. She or rather Richard Thörn (one of the first naprapath which she began to work with) found 1996, the studio at Atlasgatan 12, which was her last stop as self-employed. Elisabet Davidsson who was an employee of Annalena during the time at Atlasgatan takes, after the request of Annalena, over the studio 1st January 2001. Elisabet Prag |
